Onwards and upwards π
Hey π
Welcome π to the 3rd edition of this newsletter!
The 2nd edition of the newsletter continued to see a 50%+ open rate - your ongoing support humbles me, and I thank you for that. That was the edition in which I got REAL with you and opened up about my struggles and the actions I am taking to get unstuck.
This edition shares my results on taking action and can help you get started if you are on that path. And it will take you just 3 minutes to skim, so let's go πππ
Small wins
Since starting to take small but consistent action - writing and engaging every day on Linkedin (my primary platform), I am starting to find my voice and see good engagement.
I gained 41 new followers in the last 12 days, with 15k impressions on my posts.
The reason I am sharing this with you is to show you that you donβt need to wait for months before your actions start showing results.
These are small wins, but those are exactly what we need to keep the dopamine flowing and keep working.
Still, there are days I see no engagement, like yesterday. But that is okay - my first goal was to get consistent. To do that, I hacked my brain to get dopamine from the VERY ACT of posting.
I wrote about it here:
New Experiments
With progress comes experimentation, to answer the question - how do I improve engagement? More importantly, have more engaging conversations.
There are many new ideas I will be testing over the next week.
I am experimenting with my writing schedule - changing it from every day to every other day. I would rather write 3 meaningful posts in a week (that I enjoyed writing) than 6 half-assed posts.
Next, I have a podcast π§ in the works. What better way to start meaningful conversations than talking to other PMs and recording it to share with more people?
You may ask - How is it going to be different than all the other podcasts out there?
To be real with you - I donβt know. I will figure it out.
I have a theme in mind - REAL conversations about failures, self-doubt, and the on-ground realities of being a product manager. My hypothesis is we learn most from the stories of people just a few years ahead of us.
Is this something that you would be interested in listening to? - I would love to hear your thoughts. Letβs chat.
Enough about me; letβs get on to the good reads.
Interesting Reads
Most of the posts I have saved this week are heavily related to content creation (my primary focus). If you want to get active in creating content, this is gold π.
Know your nemesis π€
When writing content on Linkedin, many of us struggle π© because we donβt understand how the Linkedin algorithm works. The result - we end up making costly mistakes without realizing it. And give up all too easily.
This solves that problem π:
Donβt be scared πΆβπ«οΈ
When doing something new, fear and self-doubt grip us. I know I was scared to hit publish on this newsletter and every post I write.
What will people think π¬? - The eternal show-stopper.
This gives me courage π₯·:
Stand out π
And finally, to stand out in the crowd of content creators, you need to build substance (one post at a time) and learn how to stand out.
No one does it better than this guy. He went from 0 to 8k followers on Linkedin in less than 3 months π€― (that is a lot by Linkedin standards).
Here is an amazing post on standing out:
